Opinion
Unfounded
By Muriel Gardner, Ashburn
[June 16, 2005] Before Delegate Black sends out his attack dogs, he should at least ensure that they have something substantive to address. Ms. Brookhouse's attack on David Poisson's wife was shrill and totally unfounded, indicating that things are indeed getting desparate in the Black camp.
Perhaps Ms. Brookhouse should concern herself with wondering why her candidate, Dick Black, has not brought one cent of the $300 million transportation bill to Loudoun County where traffic problems are increasing daily. The much touted "Black" transportation bills for Rt. 28 were nothing more than mechanisms to keep current funding in place - funding that Black had nothing to do with procuring.
Where are the proposals and bills to improve our schools? How is Dick Black addressing our ballooning education issues? It is nice that her delegate chooses to devote his efforts to lowering the qualifications necessary for parents providing home schooling to their children; however that is scant comfort for the thousands of other parents concerned with the necessity of attracting highly qualified, long-term educators to the schools of Loudoun County, the fastest-growing county in Virginia.
Ms. Brookhouse shouldn't concern herself with the tax exempt status of River Bend Middle School's PTA; others are well able to handle that situation. Instead, open her eyes and mind to the really significant issues in Loudoun County.
We need a delegate who represents the needs of the entire county, not just his personal pet projects and special interests.
