Board not listening
By Adrienne M. Gardner, Purcellville
[March 3, 2005] If members of the Board of Supervisors were really concerned with what their constituents were saying, they would make the effort to communicate with them based on the results of the petition against the CPAMs, not discount it.
While contact information for signers would have been nice, I understand the reasoning for folks not wanting their e-mail addresses to be part of the public record.
Unfortunately, members of this board just can't see what is important about the petition: That we don't want more growth than what is in the pipeline.
If Supervisors Mick Staton, Bruce Tulloch and Steve Snow need further clarification on the position of their constituents, they should communicate with all of them, not just the ones who signed the petition.
I think the message would be loud and clear. If the county can mail tax bills, they have the addresses they need.
The problem is that they don't want to hear it and will resist any means the citizens have to get their voice heard.
Until that changes, or until the next election, we are unfortunately stuck with public officials determined to impose their own agendas on the citizens who pay their salaries.
Perhaps if this government is not working for Loudoun's taxpayers, it's time to re-evaluate and possibly overhaul its structure.
